I started out as a Photographer but got lured into the world of moving images. No regrets as it has been, mainly, a creative experience and besides it is even harder these days to make a living as a photographer than it is as a cameraman!
My photography stood me in good stead for the transition to moving pictures. The basic principles are the same, composition, lighting balance, understanding optics, DOF, exposure and instinctive things like anicipating that moment. I still try and keep my hand in and often do the publicity stills for productions I am involved in, no mean feat in these days of multi-tasking!
